One Of My Team Members Has A New Blog

Now That You Are In A Contract

I have a sermon that I share with all of my clients. It is about, "Now That You Are In A Contract". In fact, it goes like this: "Now that you are in a Contract there is something you must not do until after we've met at the closing table." I usually pause just for a moment, make eye contact, and then I say, "Do not go out and buy ANYTHING on Credit!" I remind them, "If you do, you might not close on this house".

Most important, I always have my clients verbally commit to me they will not do anything to jeopardize their credit or drop their credit score. I am glad to report that almost everyone I have shared this sermon with has listened and responded accordingly. As a result, almost everyone has closed on the house of their dreams.

Speaking of Credit, I came across this writing today about Credit Do's and Don'ts. Simply follow the link about what you should and should not do to protect your Credit. This is especially important if you are planning to purchase a home in the not to distant future!

Don't Make The Same Mistake That I Did

The mistake I made could have been fatal. The story goes like this:

We were having some issues with our furnace not igniting properly. Additionally, the house wasn't heating very well when it was cold outside. It seems the furnace would run and run and run.

Interesting enough, I've always kept a Home Warranty on our house and so I decided to call American Home Shield and in no time, they had a technician at our door.

I explained the problem, he went up and adjusted the fan and a couple of other things on the furnace and wow, we had heat! When the technician came down from the attic (where our furnace sits) he asked me if we have a Carbon Monoxide Alarm? I said, "Yes" and he asked, "Is it operational?" I said, "Sure..... We keep it down by floor level and I'm sure it's working". He then said, "Do me a favor and go check the batteries now". It was missing the batteries. What a wake up call that was. It doesn't matter who did it but someone in our family had pulled the batteries!

How easy it could have been to become a statistic because our Carbon Monoxide Alarm wasn't working. More important I am always telling others, "Make sure you have a Smoke Alarm and Carbon Monoxide Alarm and that it is working". It now works!

PLEASE: Check your alarm today and if you don't have one - GO BUY IT NOW!!! Don't make the same mistake that I did.
